We celebrate H.L. Mencken’s birthday on Mencken Day, on or around September 12th, together with the Enoch Pratt Free Library, and commemorate his death on January 29th by visiting his grave in the Loudon Park cemetery.

Other activities include special exhibits, lectures, and our participation in the annual Union Square Christmas Cookie Tour and the Union Square Summer Concert events.

In January we host the Gravesite Memorial at Loudon Park Cemetery (on or around January 29th.

In the Spring we invite guests to a lovely Garden Party in Mencken’s beloved garden.

During the Summer and Fall we offer various Chamber music events.

Annually in September we host a birthday celebration on or around September 12th.

In December we invite guests to a lively reading and holiday reception with Menken’s “Christmas Story” as the theme and highlight.

Also we sponsor an array of “Concerts in the Park,” a delightful series by the Union Square Neighborhood Association.
